Caught a beautiful sunrise from my hotel room at 34th floor. I was in Penang for a work trip. #things to be grateful for

Laduree

*among gazillion of phone calls today, this one made up my particular shitty day*

T: hi how are you?
S: could be better. You back from Europe already?
T: yeah just got back last night. Listen I'm just 5 mins away from your office. Can come down for a sec?

It's a souvenir from my favorite Laduree shop in Paris. These colorful macaroons instantly cheered me up, like a rainbow! I know how painful it must have been to queue up that perpetual line at Champ Elysees. Thankful I have some sweetest friend ever.

Blasts in April

it was an eventful month.

 

  Usually I would take my birthday off work and visit the spa or something but this year I decided to go to work and pray no-one will boss me around. :P In order to do this, I bribed my colleagues with 2 dozens of these the next day.

If you can’t be slim… then make all your friends fat! *evil grin*

Family and I had a little celebration at Ben’s Restaurant. A new food chain from the ex-owner of Delicious Group, they have newly opened outlets at Pavilion and KLCC.

   

We ordered spicy crabmeat linguine, fish and chips and pandan chicken. I felt safe and adventurous enough to order my very first lamb chop. I REGRETTED.

 

N O T     G R E A T   A T    A L L.

The pungent lamb smell was so overwhelming that I couldn’t continue eating anymore. It was so different from during the numerous times where I nicked a few bites from my friends’ main dish… this is probably gonna be my last attempt at eating lamb.

Besides, do you know that all these lamb dishes that you chompchomp and nomnom are made from infant lambs killed when they were less than 12 months old? 

The berry sundae was the only highlight of the night.

Then I was sent off to Penang for work immediately… didn’t even have time to nurse a jetlag. 

my boss said, let’s go Hard Rock Cafe and celebrate Stephannie’s Birthday. How sweet of him.

and 10 days later… my father bid farewell to us. This was sis and I writing thank you notes to our relatives after everything was settled. I miss my dad so so dearly…

Wedding at Courtyard Garden

I’ve always loved small and intimate weddings. They are so much more personal and warm. Just like this one I attended on Sunday at Courtyard Garden , my high school mate Rachel tied the knot with her beau Kenneth.

Wordless Wednesday

New Life at home

~God’s Gift we found from home leading up from two weeks ago

 

We were so amazed at its details and how well it was built only just one night.

 Two eggs were laid the night after.

In the next two weeks or so birdie mummy has been staying in the nest at night to protect her eggs

Finally, eggs have hatched! Two new birdie babies were born!

It’s little things in life like this that makes you wanna slow down whatever you are doing, put whatever worries behind you and just for a few seconds, enjoy these little things in life.

Pasta Night

So it was the preggar’s last night stay in KL and today, she’ll be moving back to Ipoh and wait for the baby delivery. I asked Jacq why don’t we throw her a baby shower and this the response I got.

“Joe’s cooking us the Charlie Trotter dish from AFC. What do you want me to prepare? A bathtub?”

So no baby shower for the preggar since it’s not a common thing in Malaysia anyway.

It was Pasta Night with her family. Simple, sinful and yummilicious!

Sean opened us a Chateuaneuf Du Pape 2000 to end the night.

 

OPUS, Bangsar

After few weeks of doldrums for turning another year older soon, Bin said we were going for a little celebration and I could pick the place. Anywhere I want, apparently. :)

Everyone made it to OPUS just right on time amidst thunder and lightning from the madness downpour last night. These darlings, includes HongYeen who drove all the way from Ipoh just for the dinner ; Jacqueline who had to leave hubby at home to babysit Belle; Mel and Tim but most of all, the 9 months preggar who pulled everyone together for this.

 

Had a splendid time with the girls.

 

I was missing C and @monnlee … and there, her sms came at such perfect timing 

Indeed, apart from starters we also ordered many main courses.

Grilled Sirloin, Lamb Cutlet, Roasted Cod, Salmon Steak, Angel Hair Pasta with Foie Gras were among some of them. Food was yummilicious! Esp. roasted cod and lamb cutlet were really really good.

Pancake, Tiramisu and Crème brûlée were NOT GREAT.

7 main courses, 4 starters, 3 desserts and a bottle of wine, the bill came up to around RM800. Price is slightly above average but the portion is huge! So it is fair to share a main course after all.

After dinner, we headed to Vintry at Damansara Heights for more wine, chitchat and stayed till to 2am and called it a night.
